The players, identified as JJ Wright, Cameron Casorso, and Caden Fine, were all 18 and 17 years old, respectively. Wright and Casorso hailed from Kamloops, British Columbia, while Fine was from Birmingham, Alabama, according to the team's website. The semi-truck, driven by a 40-year-old man from Stavely, was heading northbound on Highway 2 when it collided with the players' vehicle, which was driving east across the intersection. The driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene.
