The PlayStation State of Play event was an epic showcase of gaming's future, with a new God of War game and several other exciting reveals. But here's where it gets controversial... The event's final reveal was a God of War trilogy remake, alongside an all-new God of War game releasing today. The surprise announcement of God of War Sons of Spartan, a 2D title, caught many off guard. The hour-long showcase kicked off with the return of Kena in Kena: Scars of Kosmora, an action-adventure game with a beautiful art style and creative mechanics. The game's sequel is coming to PlayStation 5 and PC later this year, an unexpected but welcome announcement. The multiplayer expansion to Ghost of Yōtei, free for owners, brings three mission types and intense action. We also got a closer look at CONTROL: Resonant, with its protagonist Dylan's 'shift' ability allowing him to control the world and reposition gravity. Star Wars fans got a glimpse of Star Wars: Galactic Racer, a modern Burnout title with galaxy-best vehicles and pod racers. 007 First Light, coming May 27, focuses on action and story. Silent Hill: Townfall, the next big entry in the Silent Hill series, was also shown. Keanu Reeves returns as action hero John Wick in a video game simply titled: John Wick. Other highlights included Marvel Tokon Fight Souls, Saros, Metal Gear Solid collection volume two, Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition, and demos for Darwin's Paradox and more. The event left players excited for 2026 and beyond, especially after the Xbox Developer Direct. But this is the part most people miss... The event's biggest reveals were not just for this year, but for the future.
