The first major event is United States Amateur Jump Rope Federation (USAJR) National Championship, held in various venues around the country; with state and regional competitions are held to qualify for the Nationals. Events include speed, freestyle and team show.

The Federation Internationale de Saut a La Corde (FISAC) is the international organization that governs the World Championships which are held every two years. The French title translates to "International Federation of Jump Rope." The best jumpers travel from all over the world to compete for the title of World Champion. Past championships have been held in Korea, Belgium, Australia, Canada, and South Africa; as well as the United States.
