 Competitions
Every year, there are two national jump rope
competitions in the United States; and every other year, one world
championship. The first major event is United States Amateur Jump Rope
Federation (USAJR) National Championship, held in various venues around the country; with state and regional competitions
are held to qualify for the Nationals. Events include speed, freestyle and team
show.
The second major competition is the Junior
Olympics sponsored by the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). Events also include speed,
freestyle and team show.
The Federation
Internationale de Saut a La Corde (FISAC) is the international organization
that governs the World Championships which are held every two years. The
French title translates to "International Federation of Jump Rope." The best jumpers
travel from all over the world to compete for the title of World Champion. Past
championships have been held in Korea, Belgium, Australia, Canada, and South Africa; as well as the United States.
The Heartbeats have historically performed
extremely well in all these competitions, capturing the Team Show trophy at
both the Nationals and the AAU Junior Olympics; as well as winning numerous individual
and team medals in both tournaments. The Heartbeats have also successfully competed in World
Championships; with two Heartbeats teams winning gold to become World
Champions; and another group winning the silver medal.
