Mission Statement
The Heartbeats compete at NationalsThe mission of the Heartbeats is to promote the sport of jump rope as fun, challenging, competitive and entertaining to people of all ages. The Heartbeats promote physical fitness through the use of jump rope as a lifelong sport. As members of the team, jumpers learn responsibility, initiative, creativity, self-discipline, cooperation and teamwork which help build a positive self image for the jumper. The Heartbeats are committed to strengthening the sport of Jump Rope by offering instructional clinics and workshops to jump rope enthusiasts of all ages.

Background
Founded in 1992, the Heartbeats, are a co-ed team of elementary through college students from Northeastern Ohio, currently under the leadership of Coach Pam Evans, dedicated to promoting the fun, health and competitive benefits derived from the sport of jumping rope.

The Heartbeats perform a half-time show.Thanks to the dedication of the coaches, jumpers and their parents, the Heartbeats quickly became the team to beat in jump rope competition around the world. The team and individual jumpers have won trophies, gold, silver and bronze medals at the World Jump Rope Championships in Korea, Australia, Belgium, Canada and South Africa; USA Jump Rope National Championships, AAU Junior Olympics, and other competitions.

The Heartbeats have also performed on television; at Disneyland and Disney World; at the professional games of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Crunch; Indianapolis Pacers and Colts; Cincinnati Bengals and Detroit Pistons; college basketball and baseball games; USAJR All-Star events; Fiesta Bowl Parades in Phoenix, Football Hall of Fame Parade in Canton, Ohio; Fields Jingle Elf Thanksgiving Parade in Chicago, and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City; as well as other major events.

The Heartbeats tour Europe during the Worlds 2002Today, the Heartbeats are recognized as one of the premier amateur jump rope teams in America and around the world. Members of the Heartbeats have also helped establish and/or train new teams in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and Pennsylvania, as well as Cyprus and British Virgin Islands. It is safe to say that the overall quality and acceptance of jump rope as a sport has been significantly influenced by the level of performance and dedication of the Heartbeats over the years.

The Heartbeats continue to strive to be a major influence on the sport by setting the highest standards in jump rope competitions, performances and clinics.

Over the years, the Heartbeats have been supported by the parents, paid performances, fundraising activities and donations. As the team grew, a Booster Club was formed which now meets monthly and serves as the informal organization of the team.

The Heartbeats perform a half-time show.With the increased prominence of the Heartbeats came increasing funding requirements to help offset the numerous expenses incurred by the team. In 1998 the Heartbeats obtained 501(c)(3) non-profit status which provides the team with the ability to seek financial support from businesses as well as individuals outside the Booster Club and which will help carry the team into the future.
